Proper Oral Rest Position

Stop right now and notice the position of your mouth! 👄 Is it open? Are your lips closed? Are you breathing through your nose?

Keeping your mouth in the proper “oral rest position” will help to promote nasal breathing and encourage proper oral development.

Here are the steps to help keep your mouth in the correct oral rest position:

👅 Tongue tip up to the ridge behind your teeth

🦷 Teeth closed, almost touching, but not clenched

👄 Lips gently closed

👃🏼 NASAL breathing as much as possible!
